APWhen Pittsburgh opened last season by taking a one-sided beatdown in Baltimore, Warren Sapp proclaimed that the Steelers were ?old, slow and it?s over.? Casey Hampton is, at age 35, the second-oldest Steeler. And at well over 300 pounds and coming off a torn ACL, he may be the slowest Steeler as well. But he insists that it?s not over.
?They?ve been saying that for how long?? Hampton said, via the Associated Press. ?They?ve been saying, ?You?re getting old,? and all that for years, and year in and year out we do our thing. So I don?t see it being any different this year.?
The Steelers aren?t as old as they used to be, with aging veterans James Farrior, Aaron Smith, Chris Hoke and Hines Ward retiring this offseason. Hampton said the Steelers have the right players in place to replace those longtime teammates.
?No question about it, when you?ve been around those guys 10-plus years, it?s definitely different,? Hampton said. ?But that?s part of it. You see guys come and go all the time. Those are definitely special guys, but I think those guys will fill in and do their best to make up for it.?
Hampton is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he says he?ll be ready to go when he needs to go.
?I don?t have no problem with being on it as long as I need to be,? Hampton said. ?I just want to get it right and be right when I?m out there. I don?t want to be out there hobbling messing around; I wanna be out there ready to go.?
And Hampton thinks the Steelers are ready to go to the postseason again, regardless of anyone saying he?s old and slow.

One of Google?s guidelines is: ?Avoid ?doorway? pages created just for search engines, or other ?cookie cutter? approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.?

Doorway pages are typically large sets of poor-quality pages where each page is optimized for a specific keyword or phrase. In many cases, doorway pages are written to rank for a particular phrase and then funnel users to a single destination.
Whether deployed across many domains or established within one domain, doorway pages tend to frustrate users, and are in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines.
Google?s aim is to give our users the most valuable and relevant search results. Therefore, we frown on practices that are designed to manipulate search engines and deceive users by directing them to sites other than the ones they selected, and that provide content solely for the benefit of search engines. Google may take action on doorway sites and other sites making use of these deceptive practice, including removing these sites from the Google index.
Google?s?Matt Cutts recently posted a video?confirming that Google doesn?t consider tweets from Twitter accounts that post every article from a site to be doorway pages.

It might seem strange that someone would even ask about that:
?but, as Cutts has suggested more than once in recent memory, people shouldn?t have to be SEO experts?or worry too much about SEO?to still be found in Google, if the quality and relevance is there.
Also, as Google has admitted in the past, no algorithm is perfect, and when they launch a major update that impacts a lot of sites, webmasters who don?t know what they did wrong (if in fact they did do something wrong) are looking for any possible thing that Google?s imperfect algorithm might have found questionable.
They say, ?There?s no such thing as a stupid question.?
If it were all so simple, Cutts wouldn?t have any reason to record endless Webmaster Help videos.
Anyhow, Google views doorway pages as those who are deceptively leading users to low quality specifically-optimized pages, and that?s what you want to avoid doing. Just don?t use pages designed to take users to places they?re not trying to go. That?s where they?ll get you.
In that particular guideline, Google says to avoid appoaches with ?little or no original content.? That?s an important thing to consider, as well. Whereas Penguin is designed to target sites violating the quality guidelines, this could get you in trouble there, but it could also get you in trouble with the ever-refreshing Panda update (2 refreshes in April alone), which is focused specifically on content quality.
Google actually has a help center article specifically defining ?little or no original content,? where the company says, ?One of the most important steps in improving your site?s ranking in Google search results is to ensure that it contains plenty of rich information that includes relevant keywords, used appropriately, that indicate the subject matter of your content.?
?However, some webmasters attempt to improve their page?s ranking and attract visitors by creating pages with many words but little or no authentic content,? Google adds. ?Google will take action against domains that try to rank more highly by just showing scraped or other auto-generated pages that don?t add any value to users. ?
Google goes on to give examples as being: thin affiliate sites (noting that being an affiliate is no problem as long as there?s added value), doorway pages, auto-generated content and scraped content.
Here?s a good piece of advice?Cutts gave on his personal blog?back in 2005: ?Do not hire an assclown SEO that makes doorway pages with sneaky redirects.?
He also?offered the following advice a few months later:
If someone came to you and said ?I want to rent out your mail server. I?d like to send out some emails from your server, and I?ll give you $N to do it,? you?d be suspicious and probably say no?unless you wanted your mail server to end up on email blacklists. In the same way, if someone comes to you and says ?I?ll give you $N to rent subdomains, subdirectories, or pages from you. Just link to my doorway pages from your content,? I would recommend to say no as well. It can affect the reputation of your domain if you host doorway pages for someone else and then that other person creates spam on the pages on your domain.
About a year and a half ago, Webmaster Tools started?sending out notices about doorway pages.

Of all the sportsmen who walk this earth, Phelps is perhaps most deserving of a mulligan and a measure of patience from fans. Then again, the man laboring in Lane 8 didn't look remotely like Michael Phelps.

In May, when Phelps was still trying to prove that he could come back from several indifferent years of training, he told a media summit: "Hopefully, I didn't get too far behind that I can't make up the difference."
He appeared to dispel those doubts at Olympic trials, when he beat Lochte in three of four races ? and while he lost to Lochte in the 400 IM then, too, he raced it in 4:07.89. Had he matched that Saturday, he would have taken silver by nearly a second.?
So what happened?
Before the Games began, Phelps said how he was going to enjoy these Games. "I'm having fun," he said in a news conference. "It's a question of: How many toppings do I want on my sundae?"
Perhaps Phelps, the ultimate grinder, can't turn into a cherries-on-top sort of swimmer overnight.?
Before the Games began, Phelps said he was going to have to manage his emotions in this, his last meet. "There are going to be the last competitive moments in my career," he added. "It's big."
Perhaps he's letting those emotions get the better of him.?
Or perhaps he just had a bad day at the pool.
To be honest, we didn't know what a bad day at the Olympic pool looked like for Phelps before now. There had never been any.?

LONDON (Reuters) - Police on Sunday warned tourists in London to beware of people pretending to be plain-clothes officers and stealing credit cards and cash during the Olympics, and said they arrested more touts for illegally reselling Games tickets.
The capital's Metropolitan Police Service said it arrested three men aged between 27 and 35 years on Saturday on charges of impersonating a police officer and conspiracy to steal.
"There have been a number of incidents where criminals have impersonated police officers to take money off unsuspecting tourists," said Detective Superintendent Steve Osborn.
"Officers would never take money from you, they would never take you to a cashpoint and ask you for money. They are unlikely to ask to see your bank cards and would never need to ask you for your pin number," he added.
Saturday's arrests were made in central London's Russell Square, where London 2012 organisers are running a transport service for media covering the Games.
Police said there was no direct connection between the arrests and the Olympics, but noted such con-men could be attracted to London by the lure of extra tourists during the Games.
The London force also said it had arrested another three people for illegally reselling Olympic tickets, known as touting in Britain and scalping in the United States, after nabbing 16 on Friday and Saturday.
Two of those held on Sunday were arrested outside Horse Guards Parade in central London, site of the beach volleyball tournament.
Three more people have been charged with various offences in connection with a mass alternative cycle ride that officers stopped near the Olympic stadium in east London on Friday evening, the police said.
Officers arrested 182 cyclists taking part in the "Critical Mass" ride for ignoring an order to stay away from the Olympic Park while the opening ceremony was underway.
All but four of those arrested have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

TUESDAY, July 24 (HealthDay News) ? People with physical health problems ranging from back pain to cancer are three times more likely to seek mental health care than those without such woes, a new study finds.
?The interplay between our physical and mental health has long been suspected,? lead author Jangho Yoon, a health policy economist who specializes in mental health policy issues at Ohio State University in Columbus, said in a university news release.
?When I have back pain, I feel stressed. And if it impacts my ability to work or to do my usual activities, then I can feel upset or even a bit depressed,? he said. ?But no large-scale studies existed that showed the statistical proof of this correlation.?
The findings may also highlight the need for better coordinated care between those who provide care for physical and mental health issues, Yoon?s team said.
The study looked at data from more than 6,000 adults who took part in the 2004 and 2005 U.S. Medical Expenditure Panel Surveys. None of the participants had previously reported a physical or mental health condition.
Even after omitting people with catastrophic physical conditions such as cancer, stroke and heart attack, the researchers still found that people with physical health issues were three times more likely to seek mental health care.
They also found that people who perceived their physical ailments to be severe were more likely to seek mental health care.
The study was published online recently in the journal Health Services Research.
Yoon believes that a simple screening survey may help doctors assess patients and direct them to mental health treatment if they require it.
That type of initiative would be ?a win-win,? Yoon said. ?There is a chance of cost savings in our medical system if we identify potential mental health problems early, before they become more severe.?
?More importantly, coordinated care and early intervention leads to better health outcomes, and better care for the patient,? he added.

1/2 pound pasta
1 tsp oil
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 medium jalapeno, seeded and chopped
2 bell peppers, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1-2 tbsp taco seasoning (homemade version here)
1 15oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
2 cups enchilada sauce
1 cup cheese (I used Mexican blend)
2 tbsp cilantro, plus 1 for garnish
10-20 tortilla chips, crushed
Directions:
1- Preheat over to 350. Prepare pasta according to packaging directions, set aside.
2- In a large skillet heat the oil. Add the onions, jalapeno, peppers, and garlic until tender, 6-7 minutes. Stir in seasonings, black beans, and one cup of the enchilada sauce. Cook 5 minutes.
3- Stir in the pasta, cilantro, and 1/2 cup cheese. Cook until cheese is melted. Transfer the pasta mixture to a 9x13 baking dish.
4- Top with the remaining sauce and cheese. Bake 15 minutes or until sauce and cheese are bubbly. Top with tortilla chips and remaining cilantro.

Hip and knee replacements are expected to be completed within 26 weeks after seeing the surgeon, according to provincial benchmarks set by the 2004 Health Accord that identified five areas in need of improving timely access to care. Some provinces do a better job of meeting that target for hip patients than others ? Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Newfoundland among them ? according to the 2012 Wait Time Alliance report card released last month. Having said that, waits still vary significantly by surgeon, hospital and city ? a situation you can use to your advantage if you choose to shop around.
?It?s one of those things where patients have to make a difficult decision on whether to go see somebody else,? said Dr. Hughes, former president of the British Columbia Orthopaedic Association. ?The [unknown] wait time causes difficulty for patients because they don?t know how to plan for their immediate future.?
